ABSTRACT: The study was conducted to investigate problems facing effective educational administration and management of primary schools in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The aim is to explore the underlying factors and causes of these problems in the education system in Nigeria, analyze them and proffer lasting solutions to these problems. Four research questions were formulated which aimed at obtaining information on these problems. Questionnaire was the instrument used to collect one data that was administered to the population. Ninety (90) questionnaire were distributed and all of them was fulfilled and returned. The data collected were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. The analysis and findings of the research revealed that local government insensitivities and teachers’ lack of professionalism are the twin factors that caused ineffective educational administration of the area. It was recommended that there should be cordial relationships among the staff and that the headteacher should imbibe the ideal leadership style among others.
